Spider-man: black and white page 1

Where to start? Years ago, when I had much more time to think, I had an idea for a Spider-man story. But in truth, it could have been any super-hero. I wrote the story on my way to and from work. It was very short, but working sporadically as I was it took a few years to finish (if any art really ever is). I always wanted to draw this but never really thought I had the drawing chops to do it justice. I kept on telling myself: 'One day'. Every pin-up or sketch was my way of avoiding this big job, and kidding myself that I was in some way 'training' myself for it.

But the feeling grew that it was never going to be the right time. I was never going to be the perfect sequential artist and my story would always need that little bit more 'tweaking'. Life is short and you really can't sit on something that's bursting to get out. So, for better or worse, here is my story. Oh, and I guess it goes without saying I was reading 'Faust' at about the same time!

Spider-man is owned by Marvel (Disney - Grrrrr!).
